Managing the Unavoidable, Avoiding the Unmanageable

Professor David Karoly here demonstrates that a 2 degree (Celsius) rise in global temperatures above pre-industrial levels is now essentially unavoidable, yet manageable through high-priority adaptation measures, and explores the extent to which we can still mitigate a further, catastrophic rise in global temperatures by the end of the century through an urgent and much faster transition to a zero carbon economy, with Australia accepting its leadership responsibilities as a developed nation under the UNFCCC.
