Saturn now has a ridiculous number of moons


... Astronomers have discovered a panoply of new moons orbiting Saturn, bringing the ringed gas giant's total up to 274 moons—far beyond any other planet in our solar system.

That makes finding 128 moons more than just cosmic bean counting. They are adding rich new detail to the chaotic history of the Saturnian system, a work-in-progress where nothing—from its moons to its resledent rings —are permanent fixtures, but rather temporary decorations.
